Original Louis XIV ArmoireThursday, 26 April 2007 This is a genuine Louis LXIV oak and blossom wood armoire made at the end of the 17th century , it's been made in two parts to transport it easily from one house to an other. At this time, people didn't have furniture in every house, so they were travelling with it. Those kind of two part armoires were made only in one region of France, this region is called "Franche Comté" and located in the east of France close to the Swiss and Italian border. The truly amazing decoration of many different kinds of trees is exceptionnal and inspired by Italian style. It also means this armoire has been made for a very rich family. Those special kind of feet are called in French (Pieds Miches). This a very rare piece especially in such a good condition, perhaps because it has remained in the same family for a very long time. (Franche Comté is also the place where the headquarter of Peugeot is settled).
